Deepawali

Today I feel exhilarated to share the commemoration of Diwali this year. The festive time of “Diwali’’ The Festival of Lights marks new beginnings and the triumph of good over evil, and light over darkness. It is one of the most prominent festivals in India and South-East Asia, celebrated with great warmth, joy, and shining grandeur. The kids look forward to this festival since they get to burst their favorite crackers and eat whatever they wish.

Similarly, my friends and I had a feeling of bliss and joy for the festival. The next day, something that added to our happiness was that the school planned rangoli making and soft board decoration inter-house competition. We worked with great enthusiasm for the event. Material like cardboards, sheets, diyas, lights were used in our decoration spot. The most commendable part of our rangoli was using blossoming flowers to decorate it which enchanted its beauty. Two hours allotted for competition seemed like a second.

The results were declared after a couple of minutes and yes…. Our efforts paid off as we got first place in rangoli making and third in soft board. We all were extremely delighted and we congratulated each other on our victory. The other three houses also did a marvelous job and their efforts were really praiseworthy. The teamwork inculcated in us, the habits of cooperation, patience, innovance and responsibility. On another day we all were in seventh heaven when we saw our boards displayed in the morning assembly at school. There was no end to our joy and I can admit that this was one of my unforgettable Diwali in school.

After I returned home I began preparing for the Diwali celebration with my family. We celebrated an eco- friendly Diwali as I took an oath in school assembly a day before Diwali break not to burn any fire crackers and celebrate environmentally safe Diwali. Moreover, misspending money on firecrackers didn’t seem a good idea to my family either, rather my mom, who is a lecturer at B.ed college, chose to pay the fee of some of her needy students and she considered it as her foremost duty. This was a kind of celebration which made my heart smile. My Diwali week 2021 was the greatest of all and I’ll be looking forward to many such beautiful festivals.
